Fr. Greg Merkley shares his story and some facts about St. Patrick
On May 4, 2026, Fr. Greg Merkley will celebrate his 7th year anniversary of his ordination. The Serra Club of Hamilton asked him about his experience thus far.
Each year, each location has been a time of learning, a time of patience, and a time of adjustment. Currently as a pastor responsible for the salvation of souls of his parishioners as well as those who come into his life, he feels the depth of accountability, which he is very glad to take on. Sometimes, there's spiritual warfare where people turn against his thoughts, his actions, and his way of teaching/proclaiming the Gospel. Nonetheless, Fr. Greg takes each day as a blessing and strives to do what he believes God is leading him to be.
Once, someone told Fr. Greg that: 'The greatest gift for priests is the people; the greatest challenge for priests is the people.'
